Heads of MFA of Turkmenistan, Turkey and Azerbaijan meet in Ankara

The parties discussed the expansion of cooperation between the countries in the spheres of transport, energy, logistics, and high technologies.

On February 23, the fifth trilateral meeting of the Ministers of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan, Turkey and Azerbaijan Rashid Meredov, Mevlut Cavusoglu, and Jeyhun Bayramov took place in Ankara. The parties discussed issues of partnership in the spheres of transport, energy, logistics, and high technologies, as reported by the press office of the MFA of Turkmenistan.

Negotiations between Meredov and Cavusoglu took place before the meeting. They signed a program of cooperation between the MFA of Turkmenistan and Turkey for 2021-2022. During the discussion, special attention was paid to the preparation of the visit of President Recep Tayyip Erdogan to Ashgabat this year.

Within the framework of the trilateral meeting of foreign ministers, the officials noted the importance of expanding interstate cooperation within the Lapis Lazuli Corridor. Bayramov stressed the significance of signing an agreement between Turkmenistan and Azerbaijan on joint exploration and development of the Dostluk hydrocarbon field in the Caspian Sea.

Following the event, a joint statement was signed and a briefing was held. During the press conference, Cavusoglu said that the Turkish authorities are ready to do everything in their power to initiate Turkmen gas supplies to Europe.
