On September 18, President of Turkmenistan Serdar Berdimuhamedov held talks with United Nations Secretary-General Antonio Guterres. They underlined the effectiveness of long-term cooperation between Ashgabat and the organization. This was reported by the state news agency «Turkmenistan: Today».
The meeting took place on the sidelines of the 78th session of the UN General Assembly. Serdar Berdimuhamedov noted that the forum will strengthen global peace and security, and contribute to maintaining sustainable development on the planet.
The interlocutors noted that foreign policy of Turkmenistan partly aims to ensure the well-being of the entire humanity. The republic complies with international law and follows the principles of the UN Charter.
Serdar Berdimuhamedov and Antonio Guterres emphasized that Turkmenistan and the UN structures are implementing big projects and programs.
At the 78th session of the UN General Assembly, the republic will put forward a number of initiatives aimed at ensuring global peace, developing the transport sector, solving environmental problems, increasing the capacity of the healthcare system and strengthening partnerships with the United Nations.
