Mayor of Nur-Sultan Altai Kulginov spoke about the pace of housing construction in the capital. In 2021, it is planned to build 3.2 million square metres of housing, which is 0.2 million square metres more than last year, the press office of the Nur-Sultan Akimat reported.

Altay Kulginov said 48,000 people were currently on the waiting list for social housing. Over the past few years, the number of social housing units has grown significantly. For example, 1,800 social housing units were built in 2018, 7,000 social housing units were built in 2020, and 10,000 social housing units are to be built in 2021.

“The President instructed that the number of affordable social housing units and construction output be tripled. We exceeded the targets last year. We have broadened the category of social housing beneficiaries. Now, the social housing programme covers not only health workers and teachers, but also other representatives of the social sector: firefighters, culture and sport workers and police officers,” the Akim of Nur-Sultan said.

Moreover, the state has increased the number of housing certificates by almost 1.5 times. One of the main tasks of the city administration is to create infrastructure within walking distance of social facilities.
