Uzbekistan and Kazakhstan to cooperate in combating pandemic

The issues regarding the promotion and enhancement of multifaceted cooperation between the two countries were discussed.

On June 4, President of the Republic of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev held a meeting with Chairman of the Senate of the Parliament of Kazakhstan Maulen Ashimbaev, who arrived in Uzbekistan for a working visit. The parties discussed joint efforts to combat the coronavirus pandemic and further steps to promote and enhance multifaceted partnerships between the Republics, the press office of the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan reported.

It was noted that the countries continued exchanges at the level of governments, regions and businesses to mitigate the impacts the coronavirus pandemic. Since the beginning of this year, bilateral trade turnover has grown by 40%. The industry departments of the two countries are implementing the major projects in mechanical engineering, light industry, transport, tourism and other sectors. Bilateral cultural and humanitarian contacts are intensified.

The parties emphasised that the parliaments of Uzbekistan and Kazakhstan should take an active part in creating a promising agenda of bilateral interaction, developing and promoting new proposals and specific projects with the wide participation of regional authorities and business circles and enhance concerted cooperation in addressing regional and international challenges.
