Mirziyoyev takes part in meeting of Supreme Eurasian Economic Council

The meeting agenda covered key aspects of partnerships in various economic sectors and the improvement of the EAEU’s activities.

On May 21, President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev took part in the meeting of the Supreme Eurasian Economic Council. The meeting agenda covered key aspects of partnerships in various economic sectors and the improvement of the EAEU’s activities, the press office of the President of Uzbekistan reported.

Speaking at the meeting, Shavkat Mirziyoyev noted the significant potential for promoting trade cooperation through removing barriers and converging non-tariff solutions for trade regulation and highlighted the importance of enhancing industrial cooperation among major companies and regions of the countries, developing real sector programmes and maintaining food security with the involvement of the Eurasian Development Bank. He also focused on addressing key issues in transit transport cooperation and creating mutual preferences for growth of freight transport volumes.

The possibility of connecting Uzbekistan to the digital platforms of the EAEU on tax and customs administration, labour migration, tourism and other fields to enhance cooperation were considered.

Uzbekistan received an observer status for the EAEU on December 11, 2020.
