On May 17, the representatives of business circles of Tajikistan and Kazakhstan gathered in Dushanbe for a business forum. They signed a number of major contracts during the forum. The event took place on the eve of an official visit of President of Kazakhstan Kassym-Zhomart Tokayev, the Khovar News Agency reported.
The forum brought together 100 local and 15 Kazakh companies. They expressed their readiness to enhance the potential of bilateral cooperation. Chairman of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Tajikistan Jamshed Jurakhonzoda said the companies, which were investing in the Republic, were also investing in Afghanistan, as Tajikistan was the gate to the markets of its neighbours, in particular the IRA.
The forum concluded with signing a memorandum of partnership worth US$ 70 million between QazTrade Trade Policy Development Centre JSC and the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Tajikistan and a letter of intent worth US$ 7.9 million for 2 diesel locomotives between Lokomotiv Karastyru JSC and Tajikistan Railways.
The forum offered a platform for signing an agreement worth US $ 1 million between Alageum Group LLP and Parvin Energy and a memorandum on bilateral cooperation between EltexAlatau Limited Liability Partnership and Tamos Holding.
