He also approved amendments to the Criminal Code. Jogorku Kenesh adopted the Law on May 6.

President of Kyrgyzstan Sadyr Japarov approved amendments to the Law on Joint-Stock Companies and the Criminal Code adopted by Jogorku Kenesh on May 6. This document imposes external controls on the companies that work under a concession contract, the press office of the President of Kyrgyzstan reported to CentralAsia.news.

The Law will also apply to the companies that conduct exploration and prospecting works on the Kumtor mine. As was reported, a few days ago the court ruled to recover over US$ 3 billion from the Canadian company Centerra Gold Inc. This legal act aims to establish regulations on the justifications and procedure for imposing external controls at the companies that have violated the environmental and safety requirements on the fields and endangered the life or health of workers and residents in the areas affected by exploration and prospecting works.

A clause that sets forth a liability of a joint-stock company for exceeding the limitations placed on management bodies when temporary external controls are imposed supplemented the Criminal Code.
