Foreign Ministers of Uzbekistan and China discuss prospects for cooperation

The Ministers of Foreign Affairs exchanged views on the progress in implementing bilateral agreements and the measures set by the leaders of the two countries to boost bilateral cooperation in various fields.

On May 11, Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Uzbekistan Abdulaziz Kamilov held talks with State Councillor, Minister of Foreign Affairs of China Wang Yi in Xi’an. They discussed the current situation and prospects for enhancing multifaceted strategic cooperation between Uzbekistan and China, the press office of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs reports.

The Ministers exchanged views on the progress in implementing bilateral high-level agreements and the measures set by the leaders of the two countries to boost bilateral cooperation in various fields.

Wang Yi conveyed the greetings of the leader of the People’s Republic of China Xi Jinping to President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev.

The parties confirmed that economic bilateral relations had made steady progress through joint efforts and highlighted the need to continue to expand and widen trade relations.

The emphasis was placed on the urgent need to take practical measures to modernise the China-Kyrgyzstan-Uzbekistan multimodal route and jointly implement the China-Kyrgyzstan-Uzbekistan railway project.

Particular attention was paid to cooperation within the international and regional organisations in maintaining regional reliability and assisting Afghanistan to achieve lasting peace and revive its economy.
