On May 11, President of Kazakhstan Kassym-Zhomart Tokayev had a meeting with Chairman of the Board of Directors of KAZ Minerals PLC Oleg Novachuk. The businessman briefed the President on the progress of the second phase of construction and installation work at the Aktogay mining and processing plant, the press office of Akorda reported.
According to the press office, the new industrial facility will use innovative technologies and digital approaches. Modern and pragmatic engineering innovations will place the Aktogay industrial zone among the world’s largest copper concentrate producers.
US$ 1.2 billion will be invested in the ambitious project. The giant of Kazakhstan’s mining and processing industry will create 1,200 jobs in the foreseeable future. The infrastructure solutions also include favourable working conditions, living spaces, comfortable food places and grounds for leisure activities.
Kassym-Zhomart Tokayev ordered the KAZ Minerals PLC management to put the plant into operation by the Independence Day of the Republic. Oleg Novachuk assured the President that his instructions would be fulfilled, and the facility would be brought to full capacity as soon as possible.
