Head of OSCE supports initiatives of President of Tajikistan

Ann Linde and Rahmon discussed the aspects of Tajikistan-OSCE partnerships in the military-political, economic-ecological and humanitarian dimensions.

On April 15, OSCE Chairperson-in-Office, Minister for Foreign Affairs of Sweden Ann Linde arrived in the capital of Tajikistan for an official visit. Ann Linde had a meeting with President Emomali Rahmon during her working trip. The parties discussed the current level of Tajikistan-OSCE relations in the three dimensions, the press office of the President of Tajikistan reported.

The talks focused on the effectiveness of interactions in the military-political, economic-ecological and humanitarian spheres. Particular attention was paid to the initiatives put forward by the leader of Tajikistan.

Linde highly evaluated the Tajik leader’s proposal to declare 2025 the International Year of Glacier Protection. She also emphasised the role Dushanbe was playing in tackling global issues.

The OSCE Chairperson-in-Office proposed that the OSCE programmes aimed at mitigating the impacts of the coronavirus pandemic and expanding technical assistance in this area would be launched in Dushanbe within interactions between Tajikistan and the Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe. 

The OSCE Chairperson-in-Office underlined the importance of implementing the national women empowerment programme.

The parties discussed the water resources management projects and advanced training of border guards at the OSCE Border Management Staff College in Dushanbe. The emphasis was placed on the importance of combating terrorism and  bringing lasting peace to Afghanistan.
