Alexander Blokhin raised the topic as part of his participation in an international conference in Ashgabat.
On April 15, the Ambassador of the Russian Federation to Turkmenistan Alexander Blokhin took part in the international conference «Global Cooperation of Independent, Neutral Turkmenistan for the sake of Peace and Trust», held in Ashgabat. He commended the foreign policy of the country, as reported by «Turkmenistan Today».
According to him, the Turkmen authorities give priority to peace and trust in the framework of relations with other states. The official stressed that the activities of Turkmenistan in this direction are appreciated by the world community.
— The permanent neutrality of Turkmenistan is a strong and active position, as well as an effective mechanism in the spheres of interstate interaction and ensuring stability in the region, — said Blokhin.
The head of the diplomatic mission paid special attention to the importance of creating the Group of Friends of Neutrality within the UN platform at the initiative of Ashgabat. It was noted that the Russian Federation has already joined it.
The emphasis was placed on the active participation of Turkmenistan in the multilateral dialogue «CA5 + Russia». The ambassador pointed out the significant role of the Central Asian country in solving environmental problems, in particular around the Aral Sea.
Blokhin highly valued approaches of Ashgabat to the development of the Caspian Sea and the solution of related issues in the field of economy and ecology. He reminded that the 1st Caspian Economic Forum was held in Turkmenbashi in 2019.
According to the Russian civil servant, the country is also successfully implementing infrastructure projects in the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan, which stimulates economic growth and stabilizes the political situation in the South Asian country.
The ambassador said that the Turkmen-Russian interaction is an example of strategic cooperation in the name of peace and trust. He noted that recently several dozen meetings were held within the framework of the visit of the delegation of Turkmenistan to Moscow. They were aimed at expanding relations between the countries in several areas, he added.
— Over the past year, our states have already sent each other humanitarian aid 2 times. Medical products were delivered to Ashgabat from the Russian Federation, high-quality medical products were delivered to the Astrakhan region from Turkmenistan, — marked Blokhin.
The official paid special attention to the partnership of countries in countering the coronavirus pandemic. He stated that the exchange of experience in the field of science is carried out in this direction.
The diplomatic representative of Russia also assessed the participation of Turkmenistan in promoting new ideas on the world stage. The civil servant reminded that 2021 was declared the International Year of Peace and Trust by the UN at the initiative of Ashgabat.
