President reprimands and dismisses officials and khokims

Mirziyoyev ordered that the ex-officials give the wages they had received while working in their offices back to the country.

On April 13, President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev held an online meeting to review the progress in fulfilling the tasks of providing employment opportunities and organising leisure-time activities of young people. The leader of Uzbekistan severely reprimanded and dismissed a number of high-ranking officials and khokims for poor performance. The President ordered that the ex-officials give the wages they had received while working in their offices back to the country, the press office of the President of Uzbekistan reported to CentralAsia.news.

The mayors of Furkat District in Fergana Region and Ulugnor District in Andijan Region and the deputy khokim of Surkhandarya Region were dismissed for the failure to perform their duties. The prosecutors, chiefs of the internal affairs departments and tax inspections and employees of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of a number of regions lost their jobs.

Mirziyoyev gave severe reprimand and warning to Chairman of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry Aadham Ikramov, business ombudsman Dilmurod Kasymov, Minister of Employment and Labour Nozim Khusanov, First Deputy Minister of Economic Development and Poverty Reduction Saidkakhkhor Kholkhojaev and Chairman of Mikrokreditbank Butaev and ordered that they improve the situation within three months.

The President of Uzbekistan underscored the failure to fulfil his instructions to train 100,000 young people under the 1+1 programme and provide them with concessional loans.

Over the past 3 months, 21,000 young people throughout the region, 1,000 young people in Tashkent and 1,100 young people in Namangan received entrepreneurship training. In Bukhara Region, 6.2 billion soums were spent on vocational training of 216 young people.
