Kyrgyz government sets price cap for PCR tests

It was reported that new infectious disease hospitals were under construction in Osh, Naryn and Talas.

On April 12, Deputy Prime Minister of the Kyrgyz Republic Artyom Novikov held a regular meeting of the Republican Task Force to discuss the current epidemic situation in each region of the country, as well as the measures taken to ensure adequate supply of medicines, medical staff and equipment. It was reported that the price for PCR tests would be capped during the third wave of the pandemic, the press office of the Government of Kyrgyzstan reported.

The price for PCR tests at private laboratories will be reduced from 2,300 to 1,600 soms, i.e., by 30 percent. A number of health centres have reduced the price for computed tomography and digital imaging services by 20 percent, and private health centres are on duty 24 hours a day providing these services to the people.

Novikov noted poor controls of case detection and the lack of monitoring of home quarantined persons.

The Deputy Prime Minister instructed that construction work on new infectious disease hospitals in the cities of Osh, Talas and Naryn be completed as soon as possible.
