Serdar Berdimuhamedov headed Turkmen-Russian intergovernmental commission

Deputy Prime Minister of Turkmenistan was also appointed co-chairman of the Turkmen-Japanese economic committee.

President of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov held an expanded government meeting on April 9. He appointed Deputy Prime Minister Serdar Berdimuhamedov as co-chairman of the Turkmen-Russian intergovernmental commission and the Turkmen-Japanese committee on economic cooperation, as reported by «Turkmenistan Today».

Previously, these positions were held by Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Foreign Affairs Rashid Meredov. The President stressed that the head of the diplomatic department heads about 10 intergovernmental commissions. Removal of the head of the MFA from the position of co-chairman of the relevant structures will provide the necessary conditions for the effective work of the official, added Berdimuhamedov.

According to the leader of the country, the appointment of Serdar Berdimuhamedov will expand the partnership of Turkmenistan with the Russian Federation and Japan, and it will make work in this direction more specific.

It must be added that at the moment Serdar Berdimuhamedov is also a member of the State Security Council and the head of the Supreme Control Chamber.

The official is now 39 years old. He is the son of the current President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov. Before that, the Deputy Prime Minister held the post of Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs and governer of the Ahal province.

On March 3, at the meeting of the State Security Council, Colonel Serdar Berdimuhamedov was awarded the honorary title Türkmenistanyň Watan goragçysy (Defender of the Fatherland) for the worthy contribution to the development of Turkmenistan.
