Tajikistan, Belarus and Afghanistan expand economic cooperation

This theme was taken up at the business forum in Dushanbe. Particular focus was placed on cooperation in industry, agriculture and pharmaceutics.

On April 6, the forum of business circles of Tajikistan, Belarus and Afghanistan took place in the framework of the 14th meeting of the Tajikistan-Belarus intergovernmental commission on trade and economic cooperation in Dushanbe. Over 200 representatives of state-owned and private companies attended the event, the Khovar State News Agency reports.

Chairman of the State Committee on Investments and State Property Management of Tajikistan Sadi Kodirzoda said relations among the three countries had reached a qualitatively new level through the efforts of their leaders.

The forum spotlighted the investment opportunities in the tourism, industrial, agricultural, food and pharmaceutical sectors. The businessmen signed a number of documents worth about US$ 11.3 million during B2B meetings.

Over 40 companies were represented at an exhibition of Belarusian goods and commodities. It featured food products, beverages, nutrient additives and agricultural, tourist and pharmaceutical equipment.

As was reported, Tajikistan-Belarus trade turnover reached US$ 54.4 million in 2020. A joint venture that manufactures tractors was built in Gissar. It will export tractors to the IRA in the future.
