Turkmenistan and UK discuss solutions for climate problems

Focus was made on the efficient integration of solar and wind energy, the application of a climate-smart approach to agriculture.

The leadership of the MFA of Turkmenistan and the British Embassy organized a round table on March 17. The representatives discussed fruitful integration of solar and wind energy into the energy balance of the state, the application of a climate-optimized approach to the agricultural industry. It was reported by the press office of the Turkmen Foreign Ministry.

The event was timed to coincide with the COP26 meeting that will be held in the UK in November this year. It has become a platform for creating new areas of interstate partnership in the field of reducing greenhouse gas emissions and the transition to low-carbon energy sources.

Having considered that climate change has a negative impact on the health of many people and regions, experts agreed to expand exchange of experiences of the countries in the corresponding direction and industry and continue a constructive dialogue as well.

In turn, the Turkmen side told the interlocutors about the measures and efforts that have been taken in Turkmenistan to address relevant climate problems and the commitment of the state to fulfilling its obligations under the global climate agreements.
