On March 11, President of Kyrgyzstan Sadyr Japarov arrived in the Republic of Uzbekistan for a state visit. The leaders of the two states held talks, the press office of the President of Uzbekistan reports.
One-to-one talks that centred on further partnerships in various fields took place after the official greeting ceremony. Sadyr Japarov thanked Shavkat Mirziyoyev for the warm welcome and invited him to visit the Kyrgyz Republic.
The official delegations of the two states joined talks to discuss further cooperation in the trade, economic, political, transport, communication and other areas.
An important area of Uzbekistan-Kyrgyzstan partnerships is the transport sector and infrastructure improvements in the transport corridors. Mutual efforts in this area will open up a short and efficient route to external markets. In particular, the Uzbekistan-Kyrgyzstan-China railway project is of strategic importance.
The leaders of the two states emphasised that the speedy construction of the Uzbekistan-Kyrgyzstan-China railway fully met vital interests of Uzbekistan and Kyrgyzstan and contributed to increasing the attractiveness of the region as the most profitable and reliable transit corridor.
The Tashkent-Andijan-Osh-Irkeshtam-Kashgar transnational multimodal route will also contribute to increasing bilateral trade. The parties emphasised that the resumption of bus, rail and air services between the cities of Uzbekistan and Kyrgyzstan would be the main indicator of increased flows of goods, passengers and tourists.
