Turkmenistan to widen cooperation with ADB in aviation and tourism

The meeting was organized within the framework of the Central Asia Regional Economic Cooperation (CAREC) Program.

On March 10, experts from the relevant ministries of Turkmenistan and representatives of ADB took part in the online meeting on the bilateral development of aviation and tourism. The event was held within the framework of the CAREC Program, as reported by «Turkmenistan today».

The main task of the Asian Development Bank is to stimulate economic growth in Asia and the Far East, directing loans to these regions and providing technical assistance.

Turkmenistan has been a member of the ADB since 2000 and during this period has accumulated experience of successful bilateral work, in particular within the framework of CAREC, in such sectors as energy, transport, trade, customs issues, tourism, the formation of economic corridors, and development of society. Under the respective program, the bank actively participates in financing investment projects of the state.

The participants of the meeting focused on the main directions of the «2030 Program: Connecting the Region for Joint and Sustainable Development». They also discussed relevant issues related to the further expansion of multilateral cooperation.

It must be added that the Ministry of Finance and Economy of Turkmenistan previously discussed issues on the implementation of the CAREC-2030 strategy. Besides, the director of the Asian Development Bank confirmed his commitment to the realization of the TAPI pipeline project.
