The issue was discussed within the talks between the head of the Turkmen MFA Meredov and the Minister of International Relations and Cooperation of South Africa.

On March 10, Minister of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan Rashid Meredov had a telephone conversation with the head of the Ministry of International Relations and Cooperation of South Africa, Naledi Pandor. Specific attention was paid to building up relations in the political and diplomatic fields. Meredov and Pandor stressed that the partnership between Turkmenistan and the Republic of South Africa has a friendly nature.

The officials agreed that at the moment the governments of the two countries should focus on strengthening mutually beneficial ties in the trade, economy, culture spheres, and in the humanitarian field as well.

The parties agreed to expand diplomatic contacts and, in this regard, to hold consultations between the deputy foreign ministers soon. Particular attention was paid to the importance of strengthening interaction at the level of ambassadors and permanent representatives of Turkmenistan and South Africa to the UN.
