President of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov put forward this proposal at the recent meeting of the Cabinet of Ministers.
On February 26, President of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov held a government meeting. The meeting agenda included the aspects of life of the country. Particular attention was given to the preparations for the 140th anniversary celebrations of the capital city - Ashgabat, the Turkmenistan Today State News Agency reports.
President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov proposed that the names of Paytagt (capital city) or Ashgabat and Merjen (Pearl) or Maya should be given to the first boy and girl born on May 25. The leader of Turkmenistan said this would be a sign of love for the capital of Turkmenistan and respect for the history of the city.
These names would symbolise pride for the happy life of our citizens, the Turkmen leader said.
The President noted that the newborns would receive gifts and gave the high-ranking officials specific instructions.
A number of large-scale facilities will be put into operation and festivities, sporting events, the 20th international exhibition “White City – Ashgabat” and forums will be held to mark the anniversary.
