These state allowances will increase by 30% on September 1, 2021.
On February 25, President of Tajikistan Emomali Rahmon signed the Decree authorising to increase scholarships for students of higher and secondary vocational education institutions. The Tajik leader said the document was designed to improve social protection of this category of citizens, the press office of the President of Tajikistan reports.
Scholarships will increase by 30% on September 1, 2021. This will be done under the social protection policy in accordance with Article 69 of the Constitution of Tajikistan.
Undergraduates, graduate students and doctoral students will receive increased scholarships as well. This category of citizens does not include students who receive Presidential scholarships, as well as cadets of higher military institutions under the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Tajikistan.
Currently, A grade students of higher educational institutions receive a scholarship amounting to 239 somoni (about US$21), B grade students – 173 somoni (about US$ 15) and C grade students – 64 somoni (US$ 5.6). Postgraduates receive a scholarship amounting to 564 somoni (US$ 49.5).
Earlier, Rahmon has put forward an initiative to increase state allowances for children with disabilities by 20%.
