On February 23, President of Tajikistan Emomali Rahmon received Interior Minister of Iran Abdolreza Rahmani Fazli. The parties discussed key aspects of further interstate security cooperation, the press office of the President of the Republic of Tajikistan reported.
The parties noted that the states had signed over 160 documents, including a memorandum of understanding on the instruments and framework bilateral security cooperation.
The emphasis was placed on the importance of expanding partnerships between the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Tajikistan and Interior Ministry of Iran through the implementation of the provisions of the inter-ministerial document.
The leader of Tajikistan and Abdolreza Rahmani Fazli discussed key regional security aspects, in particular the approaches to strengthening geopolitical competition.
Particular attention was paid to the fight against the coronavirus. The parties exchanged information on measures taken by the Governments of the two states to stop the virus spreading.
Iran ranks among the states that were the first to provide humanitarian assistance to Tajikistan during the coronavirus pandemic.
