Mamin reviews social and economic situation in Mangystau region

During the visit, the Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers held a meeting with local government officials.

On January 30, Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers of Kazakhstan Askar Mamin visited Mangistau region. The aim of the trip was to review the social and economic situation in the region, the press office of the Cabinet of Ministers of Kazakhstan reports.

When visiting the region, the Prime Minister held a meeting with local government officials and cabinet ministers. The substantive agenda included the progress of construction of a new gas processing plant with a capacity of 1 billion cubic metres in Zhanaozen town.

The officials reported on the progress of reconstruction and modernisation of   Caspiy desalination plant, which would meet the drinking water needs of the population of Mangistau region. A daily capacity of this facility will grow to 40,000 cubic metres. The necessary will be taken to increase a capacity of other desalination plants and extend water distribution networks in the region.

Askar Mamin reviewed the approaches to enhancing food security of the region. In particular, he reviewed a number of on-going investment projects in the agro-industrial sector of the region. One of such large-scale initiatives – Aktau Agro is nearing completion. The project provides for the construction of a poultry plant with an annual capacity of 5,000 tons. It will start operating in two months.
