Doctor Myasnikov predicts spike in coronavirus cases in Tajikistan

The well-known Russian doctor said President Rahmon had made a hasty announcement of the victory over the coronavirus disease.

On January 27, in his interview with the Sputnik Tajikistan News Agency, the famous Russian doctor and TV presenter Alexander Myasnikov said there would be a massive spike in coronavirus cases in Tajikistan. He also doubted the victory over the coronavirus disease in the Republic declared by President Emomali Rahmon.

Myasnikov said Tajikistan was not the first country to declare the complete eradication of coronavirus. A similar situation was in Georgia, when America’s media reported the Government had avoided a coronavirus outbreak by taking appropriate actions.

The doctor noted that if at least 1% of the population in Tajikistan was infected, this meant only one thing – coronavirus would return and people would not get away from it. “There is no place in the world where the authorities will declare victory over the coronavirus disease and then strongly recommend wearing masks and put everything in quarantine,” he said. In this regard, Myasnikov noted the haste with which the local authorities had made this announcement.

As was reported, 13,308 coronavirus cases have been reported in Tajikistan as of January 27. The COVID-19 death toll stands at 90. There have been no new cases in the country since January 11.
