Yulduz Jumabayeva won the gold medal in the women’s under 45 kg competition at the World Weightlifting Championships in Ashgabat.
An athlete from Turkmenistan, Yulduz Jumabayeva won the gold medal in the women’s under 45 kg competition at the World Weightlifting Championships, which was held in Ashgabat in November 2018. The IWF decided to re-distribute the medals, the Turkmenistan Today News Agency reported on January 17.
President of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov received a letter from the leadership of the International Weightlifting Federation. The letter says that an athlete from Thailand Thunya Sukcharoen has been stripped of her honours due to an anti-doping rule violation.
The gold medal was awarded to Jumabayeva. The Turkmen athlete lifted 179 kg in the combined event (104 kilograms on the clean and jerk and 75 kg on the snatch). She broke the junior world record on the clean and jerk.
The award ceremony will take place at one of the international tournaments.
As was reported, Jumabayeva won the bronze medal in the women’s under 49 kg competition at the International Qatar Cup in Doha in 2019. She lifted 100 kg on the clean and jerk.
