Tajikistan and Kazakhstan celebrate the 28th anniversary of diplomatic relations

The countries actively interact in the political, military, trade, economic, scientific, technical and cultural fields.

January 7 marked the 28th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between the Republic of Tajikistan and the Republic of Kazakhstan. The two states interact effectively in the political, military, trade, economic, scientific and technical, cultural and humanitarian spheres, the press office of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Tajikistan reports.

Tajikistan and Kazakhstan have signed 100 interstate and intergovernmental agreements. The fundamental document – the agreement on basic relations was signed in January 1993. The strategic partnership agreement, signed on September 14, 2015, have a special place in bilateral ties.

Since diplomatic relations were established, the leaders of the two states had paid 7 official visits. The Intergovernmental Commission on Economic Cooperation plays a special role in promoting bilateral relations. This political platform will hold the next meeting in the first half of 2021.

The Republics are implementing the Trade Facilitation Roadmap 2019-2022. The volume of trade between Tajikistan and Kazakhstan reached US$ 957.5 million in 2019 and US$ 713.6 million in the first ten months of 2020.

A quota of reserved places at institutions of higher education is set on an annual basis for young citizens in the two countries. The states actively collaborate within the UN, OSCE, SCO, CICA, CSTO and CIS.
