RF Ambassador highly evaluates Turkmenistan’s foreign policy

Alexander Blokhin dwelt on this issue during an online meeting with President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov.

On December 29, President of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov held an online meeting with Ambassador of the Russian Federation Alexander Blokhin. The parties exchanged New Year greetings and discussed the policy of neutrality of the Central Asian state, the Turkmenistan Today News Agency reports.

President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov said that Turkmen economy was attractive to investors. He also said that Turkmenistan was known worldwide as an authoritative state. The Turkmen leader noted that the country had diplomatic relations with 149 states, and 46 states established their diplomatic missions in Ashgabat. Particular attention was paid to the role of Turkmenistan in maintaining regional and global security, the implementation of the SDGs and interaction between government agencies and international organisations.

Blokhin wished Happy New Year to citizens of Turkmenistan. He noted that foreign diplomatic missions had been always given respect and support in the country. The diplomat emphasised that this year the country had celebrated the 25th anniversary of neutrality with great success.

He noted that the creation of the Group of Friends of Neutrality and the adoption of the Resolution “The role and importance of a policy of neutrality in maintaining and strengthening international peace, security and sustainable development” at the 75th session of the UN General Assembly were of particular importance for the foreign policy of the Turkmen state.

Blokhin also dwelt on the innovative international initiatives put forward by President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov in the fields of energy, transport, ecology, science and health.
