President of Kazakhstan extends a moratorium on the creation of quasi-government organisations

The new Decree extends the moratorium for one year until the end of 2021.

On December 28, President of the Republic of Kazakhstan Kassym-Zhomart Tokayev issued a supplementary decree initiating an extension of the moratorium on the creation of quasi-government organisations, the press office of Akorda reported to CentralAsia.news.

The current document expires on December 31, 2020. The newly signed decree extends the moratorium period for one year until December 31, 2021. The document will come into effect on the date of its promulgation.

As was reported, the leader of Kazakhstan issued the above Decree in July 2019. The President informed of his intention to give one more year to create quasi-government organisations at the Altyn Sapa awards ceremony 17 days ago.

On December 11, Kassym-Zhomart Tokayev said that the work towards reducing the share of state assets in the national economy would continue, and this work would be done in stages. Though the moratorium expired in the outgoing year, this work had not been brought to its logical conclusion, the President noted and informed of his decision to sign the decree on an extension of the moratorium period.
