Berdimuhamedov and his grandson walk in the mountains and make a snowman

The President of Turkmenistan told Kerim about the powers of nature and the major state environmental programmes.

On December 27, President of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov and his grandson Kerim walked at the foothills of the Kopetdag Mountains. The Turkmen leader did physical exercise, and they went on an air journey and made a snowman, the Turkmenistan Today News Agency reported.

The Turkmen leader said that the Turkmen people called this time of the year kyrkchille, which means forty days of winter in Turkmen. President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov noted that this was the coldest time of the winter.

On reaching the southern outskirts of Ashgabat, the Turkmen leader did physical exercise and told his grandson about the powers of nature and inextricable links between nature and humans. Then they headed to the aerial tramway. On their way, Kerim took pictures of the surrounding landscapes.

The Turkmen leader said that in the country the major environmental programmes were implemented, large-scale tree planting actions were conducted several times a year, the river beds were cleaned, the Caspian Sea coast had gained a new life and the construction of the Altyn Asyr Lake in the Central Karakum Desert continued, which was of great importance for Central Asia.

President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov noted that particular attention was paid to improving the social and ecological situation in the Aral Sea basin. The Turkmen leader said that one of the largest national projects was aimed at creating a forest zone on an area of 20,000 hectares in the north of Dashoguz region.

On arriving at the aerial tramway terminal, the President and his grandson made a snowman. Kerim took a couple of pictures of the winter sculpture. New Year's gifts were presented to the local staff on behalf of the President.
