Kyrgyzstan takes measures to prevent spread of new COVID strain

The government has strengthened sanitary and epidemiological control and other security measures at the border.

On December 25, Vice Prime Minister of the Republic of Kyrgyzstan Elvira Surabaldiyeva held a meeting dedicated to the spread of a new variant of coronavirus infection in some countries. The officials discussed the measures aimed at prevention of the spread of a new COVID strain in Kyrgyzstan, as reported by the press office of the Kyrgyz government.

Following the consideration of this issue, the republican operational headquarters gave instructions on taking relevant security measures.

These are close cooperation with authorized bodies of other states, including countries that have direct transport links with Kyrgyzstan, the distribution, diagnosis, and treatment of a new coronavirus strain.

Besides, the government has strengthened sanitary and epidemiological control and other security measures at the borders.

It must be added that earlier the UK discovered a new mutation of coronavirus infection. Although this variant of the virus, according to preliminary estimates, can be 70 percent more infectious than usual, there is still no evidence that it is more dangerous in terms of death or hospitalization.
