Turkmenistan earns $4 billion from exports of gas and petroleum products

In January-November 2020, Turkmenistan produced 8.7 million tons of oil and gas condensate and 62.3 billion cubic metres of gas.

The Government of Turkmenistan pays particular attention to enhancing the export potential of the oil and gas industry. This year, the country had earned over $4.13 billion from exports of natural gas and petrochemical products, the Ussat News e-newspaper reported on December 23.

In January-November 2020, over 7.1 billion manats (about $2 billion) were invested to stimulate the development of Turkmenistan’s oil and gas industry. In total, 8.7 million tons of oil and gas condensate were produced. Natural gas and associated gas production reached 62.3 billion cubic metres. About 31 billion cubic metres of ‘blue fuel’ were exported.

Liquefied gas, production of which reached 231,000 tons in Turkmenistan, is in high demand abroad.

In early December, the Russian oil company Tatneft and the Turkmennebit State Concern signed an agreement to enhance oil recovery on the Goturdepe field by 2028. Several more oil fields will be involved in this work.

In the first 11 months of the year, the Turkmenbashi complex of oil refineries produced over 1.7 million tons of motor fuel of various brands and over 1.65 million tons of diesel fuel.

Turkmen polyethylene is very popular among foreign businessmen. As of October 2020, exports of this product reached 140,000 tons.
