Tajikistan launches power outage hotline

3 telephone lines were launched to ensure the operational efficiency in the electricity grids.

The Tajik Energy Holding Barki Tojik has launched 3 telephone lines for receiving complaints about power outages to ensure the operational efficiency in the electricity grids. The hotline started off on December 18, the press office of the company reported on December 19.

Citizens can report power outages to hotline operators by calling 93-355-51-51 and 93-355-52-52. They also can contact them with a complaint or enquiry at 235-86-84.

“The main purpose of the hotline is to detect illegal electricity usage, power failures in electricity networks, breakdowns and illegal connections to electricity grids,” Press Secretary of the Energy Holding Nozirjon Yodgori said.

“Each hotline call will be recorded, and incoming complaints will be assigned to the relevant government agencies. Once the problem is detected, local power grids will address it quickly and accurately,” Yodgori noted.

“The need to launch a hotline arises from the fact that citizens of the Republic have been complaining for several years about the work of the company and criticizing it for electricity supply interruptions,” Press Secretary emphasised.

Mayor of Khujand, Sughd region Firdavs Sharifzoda has recently urged local people to reduce electricity use. The local government decided to turn off streetlights at night, and encourage private house owners to use coal and firewood for heating.
