EU to support Turkmenistan in development of small and medium-sized businesses

The process will be realized in the frame of the project of the International Trade Center funded by the European Union.

Small and medium-sized businesses of Turkmenistan will receive support from the European Union. This process will be implemented through the project of the International Trade Centre (ITC), which is funded by the EU. The topic was discussed at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, as reported by “Turkmenistan Today” on April 23.

ITC program “Central Asia: Trade Readiness – Support of Intraregional and International Trade in Central Asia” aims at increasing the trade potential of the country. The project implies strengthening the competitiveness of the relevant sector and developing a support strategy for small and medium-sized enterprises.

The parties also discussed global economic challenges due to the pandemic. The participants underlined that it is necessary to intensify joint efforts in the sphere of economic integration both at the regional and international levels.

The experts of the International Trade Center, representatives of the ministry of trade and foreign economic relations, Central Bank, the Union of Industrialists and Entrepreneurs of Turkmenistan took part in the video conference.

It must be added that ITC is an intergovernmental organization of the UN system, which reports to UNCTAD and the WTO. The main goal of the structure is to provide technical assistance to developing countries and the states with transition economies in the sphere of international trade.
