Turkmenistan and Ukraine to expand geography of joint business projects

The Turkmen authorities intend to expand the geography of joint business projects with Ukraine. The states also plan to increase trade turnover between the countries. The topic was discussed during a telephone conversation between the foreign ministers of the two states on April 2. It was reported to CentralAsia.news by the press-office of the MFA of Ukraine.

Turkmenistan is an important partner of Ukraine in Central Asia, noted the head of the Ukrainian department Dmitriy Kuleba. The Foreign Minister of Turkmenistan Rashid Meredov underlined the priority of active political negotiations at the highest level. He also stressed the necessity of expanding trade between countries and strengthening relations in the field of realization of joint business projects.

Ukrainian companies are actively involved in the construction of large-scale infrastructure facilities of state significance in Turkmenistan. The relevant foreign enterprises have built rail and road bridges, drainage and communication tunnels in Ashgabat.

The total volume of trade turnover between the countries has almost reached 138 million dollars in 2019. Turkmenistan has exported goods worth 83 million dollars and has imported products with a total value of 55 million dollars.

It should be added that the last meeting of the officials was held as part of the 71st session of the UN General Assembly in New York in 2016.
