Turkmenistan and UN to tighten measures against coronavirus

The relevant plan will ensure the support of the social and economic spheres of the country during a specific epidemiological situation.

The Turkmen authorities plan to tighten measures for preventing the spread of coronavirus in the country. In the frame of the event representatives of the ministry of health had a meeting with the UN delegates on March 31. They discussed the development of the national plan on preparedness to countering COVID-19. It was reported to CentralAsia.news by the UN press-office

United Nations Resident Coordinator in Turkmenistan Elena Panova noted that the plan aims at defining the needs of the country in the corresponding sphere. She underlined that the document will be updated according to the changes in the epidemiological situation. As the UN representative said the project will have the emergency response goals and strategies. It will also determine the action plan for the protection of social and economic fields against coronavirus.

It should be reminded that today no cases of COVID-19 infection have been reported in the country. Special control points have been established in all the regions. Citizens are checked for the presence of coronavirus symptoms using infrared thermometers. Regular disinfection work is carried out in crowded areas. In addition, seminars and health-related education events are organized among paramedics and employees of the relevant services. Virology laboratories conduct corresponding diagnostic tests.
