Kyrgyzstan decides to scrap Immortal Regiment procession

This year, citizens of Kyrgyzstan will not take part in the Immortal Regiment memorial procession, which is traditionally held on Victory Day. The procession was scraped as a measure to ensure the security of citizens, the press office of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Kyrgyz Republic reported.

This decision was made to avoid any possible public order offences.

The authorities plan to take all possible measures to reduce the risk of violations of laws. The Ministry of Internal Affairs calls on citizens of the country to understand and accept this decision.

As was reported, the Immortal Regiment procession was scheduled to take place in 6 settlements of Kyrgyzstan, including Bishkek. Immortal Regiment Coordinator in Bishkek Zulfira Khaibullina reported that the main venues were Jalal-Abad, Osh, Kara-Balta and Ivanovka and Leninskoye villages. The organisers of the action encouraged local residents to organise these processions in their cities and villages.
