A meeting between Mayor of Tashkent Shavkat Umurzakov and Mayor of Yekaterinburg Alexei Orlov took place as part of the Innoprom. Central Asia Forum in Tashkent, the press office of the Tashkent Administration reported.
Alexey Orlov made presentation on the wide range of Yekaterinburg’s capabilities in such areas as logistics, heavy and light industries, information technology and medicine, among others. He proposed enhancing cooperation in these areas. Orlov emphasised that the two cities, which are key industrial centres, have much in common. Furthermore, the two cities are working to boost economic development by improving the quality of life of the people.
Shavkat Umurzakov supported Alexey Orlov’s proposals. The interlocutors discussed measures to implement major projects concerning the development of the transport network, the creation of a favourable and healthy living environment, the implementation of the safe city and smart city concepts, construction, etc.
Following the talks, the mayors of the two cities agreed on the need to set up a working group to identify the main areas of joint work and formulate a detailed work plan.
