Kyrgyzstan must have the right to choose – UK Foreign Secretary

UK Foreign Secretary David Cameron said Kyrgyzstan has every right to independently choose international partners at the press conference following talks with Minister of Foreign Affairs of Kyrgyzstan Jeenbek Kulubayev, the Central Asian News Service reported.

Cameron emphasised that no one has the right to curtail or limit this right of the Kyrgyz people. He said bilateral talks focused on aspects of UK-Kyrgyzstan cooperation. Cameron also noted China as a key partner of Kyrgyzstan’s economy.

The UK Foreign Secretary added that Kyrgyzstan has abundant water resources and highlighted the importance of the environmental projects in the Republic. He touched on the challenges of climate change. He noted that an investment fund with a £19 million capital commitment will be set up to support small and medium-sized businesses.

The politician noted that London is advancing cooperation with Bishkek on private investment. He said the British companies are involved in the construction of a stadium in the capital of Kyrgyzstan.

Following talks, the parties signed a cooperation agreement between the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Kyrgyzstan and the UK Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office for 2024-2026.
