Tajik citizens’ income has increased 113 times over 23 years

Minister of Economic Development and Trade of Tajikistan Zavki Zavkizoda reported that Tajik citizens’ income has increased significantly over the past 23 years during the event marking the Economist Day. He noted that annual gross income has increased from 1 billion somoni to 113 billion somoni, Asia-Plus reported.

The Minister added that Tajikistan’s economy showed stable annual growth of 7,7% from 2000 to 2023. Last year, the Republic’s GDP reached 130.8 billion somoni, while it was 1.8 billion somoni in 2000.

In 2023, Tajikistan’s economy grew by 8,3%, which was largely due to an increase in industrial production by 12%, agricultural production by 9% and investment in fixed assets by 22,5%. Furthermore, the growth in freight and passenger traffic, paid services and commodity turnover has had a positive impact.

The Minister emphasised that the international financial organisations highly evaluated Tajikistan’s rapid economic growth. Zavkizoda said a key priority for the authorities is to ensure sustainable economic development.
