President of Kyrgyzstan approves and signs law on non-profit organisations

President of Kyrgyzstan Sadyr Japarov signed amendments to the Law On Non-Profit Organisations that regulates the activities of foreign NPOs and their representatives in the Republic. He made this statements on his official page on social media.

The President noted that the public, the organisations, as well as their foreign partners will benefit from these amendments. Japarov noted that all non-governmental organisations will henceforth be required to get registration with the Ministry of Justice, open bank accounts and act transparently, as is customary in European countries.

The President emphasised that information about potential persecution of non-governmental organisations is false and is not supported by the new law. The President guaranteed no discriminatory actions will take place.

«The non-governmental organisations that have been operating in our country for 30 years have not been registered anywhere. They have not reported to anyone. They only opened bank accounts, took money from foreign donors and used it at their discretion, including for personal purposes,» the President said.

The President said they won’t have that opportunity any more.
