Uzbekistan launches forest restoration project

President of the Republic Shavkat Mirziyoyev approved the Decree on the launch of the project on sustainable forest landscape restoration in the country, Kun.uz reported.

The project will be implemented jointly with the International Development Association.

An ad-hoc group under the Forestry Agency in cooperation with the Ministry of Environment will be responsible for coordinating, supervising and promoting project activities, as well as effectively managing financial resources and grants. It will monitor and report on the project progress, as well as ensure timely repayment of borrowed funds.

As was reported, a diagnostic centre for automotive environmental testing will be opened in Tashkent in the near future. After calculating their carbon footprint, vehicles will receive a coloured sticker with an identification chip.
