The ground-breaking ceremony of new power plants took place in Uzbekistan. President Shavkat Mirziyoyev attended the ceremony. The three projects have a total cost of $1.1 billion, the press office of the Government of Uzbekistan reported.
It is planned to build 3 new energy facilities in Namangan Region: a cascade of 6 hydropower plants and 2 solar power plants. Their total energy output will reach 1,228 MW, and the estimated cost of the three projects is $1.1 billion.
Uzbekgidroenergo is to build the cascade of 6 hydropower plants, and Hyper Partners GmbH from Germany and Tepelen Group Holding Ltd from the UAE are to build 2 solar power plants.
The Government of Uzbekistan is paying great attention to increasing the use of renewable energy. In recent years, the solar and wind power plants with a total capacity of 1.6 GW have been built in Samarkand, Navoi, Jizzakh, Bukhara, Surkhandarya and Kashkadarya Regions.
