Uzbekistan’s exports stood at $3.2 billion in 2023

President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev reviewed the proposals of the Government for the expansion of entrepreneurial activity and active involvement of domestic businesses in export operations. It was noted that exports reached $3.2 billion in 2023, the press office of the President of the Republic reported.

Earlier, the President of Uzbekistan emphasised the need to support businesses and step up their involvement in international trade. Speaking at the online meeting last December, the President highlighted the importance of involving entrepreneurs in export operations, which later led to the development of new approaches to achieve this goal.

The participants noted that businesses received financial assistance worth 665 billion soums in 2023, but these funds were not used effectively. This was especially noticeable in the electrical engineering, agricultural, pharmaceutical and jewellery industries. Exports were less than expected, as the industry associations failed to attract over 2,700 potential exporters.

To improve the situation, it was decided to combine production and export aspects into a single system at the regional and industrial level. It is planned to strengthen interaction between the Chamber of Commerce and Industry and the Uzbekekspertiza Joint Stock Company.
