Prime Minister of Kyrgyzstan criticizes education system: everything needs to be changed

Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers of Kyrgyzstan Akylbek Zhaparov noted that the national education system does not meet the minimum requirements at the meeting of the board of the Ministry of Education and Science, the press office of the Government of the Republic reported.

Dwelling on the disadvantages of the national education system, Zhaparov highlighted the need for fundamental reforms in this sector.

The Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers instructed that the programme for school curricular adaptations be developed as soon as possible. Zhaparov emphasised that every schoolchild has a talent that needs to be revealed, and the task of the school and the state is to provide every child with the best resources for self-realization.

The Prime Minister noted that education is the foundation for the future that requires special attention.

As was reported, Jogorku Kenesh demanded that primary schoolchildren be taught only in their native language. However, the Ministry of Education and Science abandoned the idea and proposed delivering classes in two languages. Minister Dogdurkul Kendirbaeva explained that the level of knowledge of children taught in their native language is lower than that of children who attend Russian-language schools.
