On March 5, President of Turkmenistan Serdar Berdimuhamedov met with OSCE Secretary General Helga Maria Schmid in Ashgabat. The interlocutors exchanged views on key areas of cooperation, Turkmenistan: Golden Age reported.
Serdar Berdimuhamedov noted that Turkmenistan stands for active interaction to maintain peace, security and sustainable development on a regional and global scale. In this regard, he emphasised that Turkmenistan is invariably committed to close partnerships with the OSCE in tackling modern challenges and threats.
The President said Turkmenistan has the profound energy potential. In this context, he proposed taking specific measures within the OSCE to export and transit energy to the world markets, including the political, financial and environmental aspects.
Berdimuhamedov confirmed that the Turkmen side is ready to expand cooperation in transport with the OSCE. He expressed belief that the environmental forum of the international organisation and the ministers of environment from the Central Asian states, which was held in Ashgabat on March 4, will contribute to fostering a fruitful dialogue in this sphere.
