Kazakhstan simplifies specialty doctor referral process

In the near future, citizens of Kazakhstan will have an opportunity to contact specialty doctors directly, without having to make the initial visit to a therapist. This decision was made by the Ministry of Health of the Republic of Kazakhstan, led by Akmaral Alnazarova, Vestnik Kavkaza reports.

The Ministry of Health of Kazakhstan noted that the procedure for interaction between a healthcare practitioner and a specialty doctor will be changed in April to ensure an integrated approach to treatment. Now a decision on additional medical examinations will be taken individually for each patient.

Emergency or injured patients do not need a therapy consultation to contact specialty doctors. The list of specialty doctors who can be contacted directly includes: traumatologist, ophthalmologist, ENT doctor, dentist, dermatovenerologist, obstetrician-gynaecologist, psychologist, oncologist, cardiologist and endocrinologist.

In April, the number of medical tests, which citizens of Kazakhstan must go through to be admitted to the hospital, will decrease, and their validity period will be extended from 10 days to up to 2 weeks and from 1 month to up to 3 months.
