Kyrgyzstan to ban e-cigarettes

Kyrgyzstan intends to ban e-cigarettes. This initiative was put forward by a parliamentarian Shairbek Tashiev, who proposed a fine of 40,000 soms for smoking e-cigarettes. The draft law is under public discussion. The document is posted on the website of Jogorku Kenesh, and everyone can comment on it.

If the law is adopted, the sale of e-cigarettes will be punishable by a fine of 50,000 soms for individuals and 65,000 soms for legal entities. A fine of 150,000 to 200,000 soms or imprisonment of 1 to 2 years will be imposed for the importation of this product.

According to Tashiev, the number of teenagers using e-cigarettes has increased significantly in recent years. He notes that this trend is associated with the advertising of e-cigarettes as a safe alternative to traditional cigarette smoking.
