The Russian cosmonaut set a world record for the total time spent in space, Turkmenistan: Golden Age reports.
«We in Turkmenistan are proud that our compatriot, born and raised in the ancient Turkmen land, has become an outstanding space explorer and reached hitherto unprecedented milestones in his noble profession. Being the first is always honourable and at the same time not easy, since leadership is, first of all, a high responsibility to society, the country, and in your case, to the whole world,» Hero-Arkadag said.
The Chairman of Halk Maslahaty noted that Kononenko had set the record in the year when Turkmenistan, several states and international organisations are celebrating the 300th birth anniversary of the great Turkmen philosopher, thinker and poet Magtymguly Fraghi.
«The Turkmen people will be glad to see you in Turkmenistan to celebrate the birth anniversary of Magtymguly after the completion of your current space mission. I am confident that you will continue to carry the banner of international astronautics with dignity along the path to new achievements,» the National Leader of the Turkmen people emphasised.
