Akylbek Zhaparov orders thermal power plant in Bishkek be overhauled

On February 4, the Task Force met in Bishkek to discuss measures to respond to the accident at the thermal power plant. Chairman of the Government of Kyrgyzstan Akylbek Zhaparov attended the meeting, the press office of the Government of the Republic reports.

The Minister of Energy reported that an additional boiler had been put into operation. On February 4, 8 boilers and 4 turbine generators worked, and the water temperature at the boiler outlet at the thermal power plant fluctuated between 40-61 degrees.

The Chairman of the State Construction Committee reported that 15,000 square metres of the roof of the thermal power plant were damaged in the accident. About 4,300 square metres have been repaired.

Zhaparov ordered the damaged buildings be overhauled, emphasising that half-measures will be inadmissible. He urged to speed up the development of a modernisation action plan of the thermal power plant.
