President of Kazakhstan Kassym-Zhomart Tokayev held a meeting with Chairman of the Supreme Judicial Council Denis Shippa to review the work done by the Council in 2023, the press office of the President of the Republic reported.
The Chairman of the Judicial Council informed Tokaev about the measures taken to improve judicial selection, as well as transparency and effectiveness of the Council. He noted that last year the number of appointed judges was higher than the number of judges who had resigned from the judicial system.
Denis Shipp highlighted the importance of enhancing the role of building a judicial personnel reserve due to the inclusion of new elements in the process of appointing judges to district courts.
Kassym-Zhomart Tokayev instructed the Chairman of the Supreme Judicial Council to continue the effective implementation of reforms aimed at strengthening judicial independence and ensuring the effective selection of professionals.
